Study is probably one of the hardest things that students go through, so here is 7 quick tips to make it a bit easier.
1. Make a clear, motivating work space.
Have a desk that is separate from distractions and clear of mess. Mess makes it a lot harder to focus on the task ahead. Have all your stationary and study supplies easily accessible.
Having motivational quotes on your walls is really good for if you aren’t feeling motivated.
2. Set goals and make a plan.
What do you want to have achieved by the time you finish studying for the day? How are you going to do that?
It is always good to be on top of what you need to study and when. Make a plan of what you will study and what time/day you will study it.
3. Take breaks.
Breaks are so important when studying for long periods of time. They give your brain a break so you can refocus and get back into things. Personally, I think it is effective to study for 40 minutes and then have a 5-15 minute break (depending on how many breaks you’ve already had).
This tip will be different for everyone! If you are the sort of person who can’t concentrate for long periods of time, take shorter breaks more often, If you are the sort of person who needs to study for an hour without stopping, then do that. But don’t get distracted during your breaks.
4. Use apps.
The present world is all about technology and there are so many helpful apps out there for studying. Search on the app store or google play store for study apps.
This is a great app that allows you to manually input questions and answers. It will then turn these into flashcards, tests, and quizzes to help you learn the information.
The Homework App
This app is great for organising your subjects, homework, assessments, and due dates.
This is such a helpful app when studying. You set a timer and it doesn’t let you use your phone until the time is up.
5. Turn information into a song or story.
Take the things that you need to memorise and turn them into a song or story. When creating your story, take important details and facts and turn them into something crazy (the more ridiculous the story, the more likely you are to remember it).
6. Study buddies.
Studying with the help of other people can be one of the most effective ways to retain information! Whether your study buddy is a friend, parent, or sibling, hey can help you in many ways.
Parents are good for reading out questions to you and checking if your answer is right. And maybe you could ask them some questions, who knows… they might actually know some stuff!
Siblings that are younger are good listeners and trying to explain things to them in simpler ways can help you understand and memorise the information better
Friends that are in the same classes as you are awesome study buddies! you can ask each other questions and get information from each other that you may not have known or forgotten.
7. Drink plenty of water!
This is possibly the most important tip of all! Water keeps your blood circulating properly and is a stable source of STAYING AWAKE, whereas consuming sugary items can give you a high and then make you crash.
Water has many other benefits as well. It helps skin stay healthy and clear, keeps you healthy, and it seems to put everyone in a good mood!
It is suggested that we drink at least 2L of water per days to stay properly hydrated.
Good luck and God bless x
